Victoria

Located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, ninety minutes away from Vancouver via BC Ferries or a thirty minute float plane from Coal Harbour, the capitol city of British Columbia is Victoria. Here there used to be more tea shops than coffee, today the cafe scene has become more prevelant with many popular cafes such as Torrefazione on Government Street, Rebar off the beaten track but well worth the search in the downtown area, Moka House has a few locations around the city as does Starbucks.

There is a large number of places in Victoria that serve afternoon tea (some also refer to it as high tea - both come with sandwiches and berries and tarts) , If you want a unique experience then go for the best.

The Fairmont Empress offers four seatings a day: 12:30, 2, 2:30, and 5pm; reservations are recommended in the summer.

One of the most popular tourist attractions on the outskirts of Victoria is Afternoon Tea at the Gardens at the Butchart Gardens Dining Room. Looking out over the flowers, you can enjoy and savor this longstanding tradition. Tea is served daily noon to 5pm April 1 through Labour Day. Call ahead for winter hours. Silk Road in Chinatown sells a wide selection of kettles, tea cups and accessories, tea is available for sale hot, cold or to brew at home.
